Loving Yourself Through Change

Change is hard. At least that’s what I used to think.

Can I tell you a secret?

Some transformation is difficult but not all of it.

Let me illustrate with a personal story.

I was born with cerebral palsy.

Simply put, I came out black and blue and nearly died.

Thankfully I’m blessed to be increasingly alive, as I align myself with the great potential and

gifts that are inside of me. The same can be said of you too, by the way.  But that doesn’t mean we don’t have challenges.

For one, I walk with a limp. All my life I’ve struggled with self image. Then one day, something shifted. I woke up and before I knew it said something astonishing--  “I love myself.”

“Wait what? Where’d that come from?!” I had certainly said plenty of the opposite about myself,

but never that.

Here’s the backstory for your benefit.

I’m still not sure where that statement came from or what caused it, but I can point to positive

contributors. At the time I said that, I was a couple months into a personal development identity and leadership school. Day after day, we sat and listened to messages on that and other related

subjects.

You know what? They had more of an impact on me than I realized. Here are three things I learned that I encourage you to implement into your life.

1. ACCOUNTABILITY

Listening to those messages alongside my classmates meant that we were having similar

experiences and thoughts. We could compare notes and hold each other accountable (accounting for your ability and potential). We could champion and cheer up. Do you have that sort of community or mastermind in your life?

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together,” an African proverb says.

2. INSPIRATION

Exposing oneself to what’s possible. Setting aside time to listen to inspiring messages helps

convince you of your capability. If you know there is a target, then the question is, how can you hit it?

3. SELF-HELP

Working on you. Personal development, including coaching and lectures is important because

you are demonstrating value and belief in yourself. All your relationships will benefit, including the one you have with yourself, your mind, body and emotions.

The shift in my belief was undoubtedly due to a number of factors. Yours will be too, but here’s

the point.

As you prioritize personal transformation, maybe as simple as a tweak here and there,

what seemed to take a lifetime to change will reach a tipping point and change over night.

As a result, you will have clearer vision than ever so that you can maximize your potential and

achieve your dreams.
